The Ole Miss Rebels defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, 27-20. The Rebels improve to 5-1 while the Razorbacks fall to 2-4.

The Razorbacks got off to a hot start, but ultimately couldn’t find much consistency on offense. The Rebel rushing attack was efficient for the 2nd week in a row, while the Razorbacks got nothing going on the ground.

Now, let’s get into our 3 takeaways from this matchup between SEC rivals.

The Arkansas run game is non-existent

The Razorbacks finished with just 36 rushing yards on the night. The unit had a top-10 rushing attack in 2022, making it all the more frustrating that the Razorbacks cannot get it going on the ground this season.

KJ Jefferson didn’t play badly against the Rebels, but the Rebel defense knew the Razorback offense was one-dimensional. With no threat of a ground game, finding any consistency was almost an impossibility for this offense.

The Ole Miss offense was efficient if unspectacular

After putting up more than 700 yards of offense in Week 5, Week 6 was always going to be a step back for the Rebel offense. The unit didn’t perform badly, after all, there were no turnovers and Dart completed 64% of his passes.

Quinshon Judkins didn’t get over 100 yards, but he did have a nice game with 67 yards, 1 TD, and 3 receptions. Ulysses Bentley IV also contributed 94 yards, 1 TD, and 1 catch.

The numbers aren’t gaudy, but the unit showed it has enough versatility to win games in multiple different ways.

The Arkansas offensive line still can’t protect KJ Jefferson

The Ole Miss defense collected 5 sacks against Arkansas. Coming into the game, Arkansas was No. 118 in the country in sacks allowed, averaging 3.6 per game. This ranking will not get any better after the performance in Oxford.

It will be hard for Jefferson and the Razorback offense to consistently score points if the line can’t block. Additionally, the Rebels’ defensive line bullied the Razorbacks’ O-line in the run game as well. With head coach Sam Pittman a known offensive line guru, it’s surprising to see this unit perform so poorly.
