Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said he’s internally addressing an incident involving linebacker Terry Caldwell, who walked to the locker room during the fourth quarter of the Rebels’ 38-21 loss to LSU after a sideline altercation with a teammate, ESPN reported.

“Well, I don’t want to go into it too deep, but it is being addressed for sure,”Freeze said during his Monday news conference. “I have a meeting with him today that will decide further what happens.”

Ole Miss’ defense has struggled all season long, giving up 31.4 points per game as the Rebels have watched a No. 11 preseason ranking crumble into a 3-4 start. Freeze also hinted that his players are having a hard time dealing with the adversity.

“Do I think overcoming adversity is the easiest thing to do for young men in today’s time? No, I think it has to be continually addressed particularly defensively right now,” Freeze said. “We are searching for some guys that really take the leadership role and do it the right way… I think the leadership there is pretty good, I don’t see anything going on there. Defensively, they want to do better, they want to do well and you saw glimpses of it.

“You put the first two possessions on and our kids did everything right, and as the game went on we didn’t sustain that level of play and we have to in order to win against the teams we are playing against in this league.”
