College Gameday executive producer Lee Fitting confirmed Thursday night that multi-platinum recording artist Katy Perry will be Saturday’s guest on ESPN’s popular pre-game show before Alabama’s showdown with Ole Miss.

Perry sounds excited.

“We try to branch out from the sports world when we can,” Fitting told The State last week after receiving tons of messages from angry South Carolina fans after Kenny Chesney was chosen as GameDay’s guest picker.

Perry is a California native, but her longtime manager, Bradford Cobb, is a 1996 graduate of Ole Miss, and Perry has joined in his allegiance to the Rebels over the years. She is scheduled to perform in Memphis on Sunday but has an off day Saturday, leaving her conveniently available to join the show.

College GameDay will air on ESPN from 8-11 AM CT, and Perry will make her picks in the final segment of the show.
