Lane Kiffin has reportedly been Auburn’s No. 1 target since it fired Bryan Harsin and hired new athletic director John Cohen.

Kiffin, however, has stated multiple times now that he intends to remain at Ole Miss over taking the Auburn job. Obviously, Auburn has to actually “offer” the job to Kiffin for him to highly consider, but it appears the Tigers haven’t offered the job to anyone.

Following the Egg Bowl loss to Mississippi State, Kiffin was asked if he intends on sticking with Ole Miss for the 2023 season.

“Yes, I do,” Kiffin answered.

Kiffin has now doubled down on those comments, via ESPN insider Chris Low. Low reported Saturday morning that Kiffin has told officials and staff members that his plan is to remain at Ole Miss.

“Lane Kiffin has reiterated to @OleMissFB officials and staff members that his plan is to remain as the Rebels’ head coach and that he’s not going to @AuburnFootball, sources tell ESPN,” Low tweeted.

The saga will continue until Auburn hires a new head coach.
