Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels are up 24-12 on the road against Tennessee at halftime of Saturday night’s game.

It was a really long half, taking more than 2 hours to complete. Kiffin didn’t help that by using all 3 of his timeouts at the end of the half to ice Tennessee’s field-goal kicker.

During his halftime interview with Cole Cubelic of the SEC Network, Kiffin explained his use of timeouts and what the analytics say about it:

“It actually says it’s supposed to ice ’em,” he said. “Don’t let them kick it like in golf where they get a free shot.”

He added that he has been pleased with QB Matt Corral’s performance despite being down some key weapons:

“He’s playing without a lot of players, too,” Kiffin said. “Braylon Sanders is out for the game. He was already down 3-4 of his receivers and tight ends. He’s making plays, and some of those are quarterback draws, too.”

And, then, during an interview with the Ole Miss Network had a great quip about fans giving him the finger:

Never change, Lane.
