Lane Kiffin compared 5-star talents to first-round NFL draft picks on Wednesday during the SEC’s final teleconference of the season.

The Ole Miss head coach fell to Georgia in a one-sided affair last Saturday. He told reporters that he’s not trying to make excuses, but the talent gap is simply massive between the 2 programs. Because of that, the job falls on his shoulders to recruit better talent to Oxford to be able to compete in those games.

Here’s his full quote on the matter:

“I wasn’t trying to make any excuses or any of that. I was just saying it is what it is when how do you get to be at a Georgia level. And in analytics and when you know one staff signed 25, 26 5-stars and the other has one, it’s equivalent to first-round picks in the NFL. So one roster has that, the outcome of the game you could probably figure out what it would be most times. My point was that falls on me, we’ve got to find a way here to sign players of that caliber so you can be more competitive.”

Ole Miss is sitting at 8-2 on the season with matchups against UL Monroe and Mississippi State on the docket.
