Projected 2014 starters: Ole Miss Rebels
SDS continues its series of predicting the game one starters for all 14 SEC teams. Next up, the Ole Miss Rebels.
Ole Miss opens the season in Atlanta against Boise State, and here is our projected starting lineup:
Offense | Defense | ||
QB | Bo Wallace | DE | CJ Johnson |
RB | I’Tavius Mathers | DT | Robert Nkemdiche |
WR | Laquon Treadwell | DE | Woodrow Hamilton |
WR | Vince Sanders | DE | Carlos Thompson |
WR | Quincy Adeboyejo | OLB | Serderius Bryant |
TE | Evan Engram | MLB | Christian Russell |
LT | Laremy Tunsil | Husky | Tony Connor |
LG | Aaron Morris | CB | Senquez Golson |
C | Ben Still | CB | Derrick Jones |
RG | Justin Bell | SS | Trae Elston |
RT | Fahn Cooper | FS | Cody Prewitt |
Takeaways:
- The offense is primarily set, but there will be some shuffling along the offensive line. Following Austin Golson’s transfer to Auburn, the starting five isn’t exactly set in stone. Fahn Cooper should start at right tackle.
- Hugh Freeze talked up Quincy Adeboyejo this spring, and he could be come a crucial playmaker for the Rebels’ offense.
- The Rebels boast what could be the SEC’s top defensive line, headlined, of course, by Robert Nkemdiche and CJ Johnson.
- Ole Miss runs a 4-2-5 base defense, and we all know that Denzel Nkemdiche is suspended for the Boise State game. Linebacker Serderius Bryant and safety Cody Prewitt are the leaders of arguably the SEC’s top rostered defense.
