SDS starts a series of predicting the game one starters for all 14 SEC teams. Next up, the Florida Gators.

The Florida Gators open the season at home against Idaho, and here is our projected starting lineup:

Offense Player Defense Player
QB Jeff Driskel DE Jonathan Bullard
RB Kelvin Taylor DT Leon Orr
WR Quinton Dunbar DT Darious Cummings
WR Ahmad Fullwood Buck Dante Fowler
WR Latroy PIttman OLB Jarrad Davis
TE Jake McGee MLB Antonio Morrison
LT DJ Humphries OLB Neiron Ball
LG Tyler Moore CB Vernon Hargreaves
C Max Garcia CB Jalen Tabor
RG Trenton Brown SS Jabari Gorman
RT Chaz Green FS Marcus Maye

Takeaways:

  • There aren’t too many surprises on the Gators’ offense. However, shakeups will happen along the offensive line, and finding the right five will be an interesting feat for Will Muschamp.
  • The Gators’ starting defense may be set. A big position still up for grabs is the No. 2 corner job opposite of Vernon Hargreaves, which could be won by Brian Poole, Jalen Tabor or Duke Dawson. I have Tabor projected as the starter, and he’s the prototypical cornerback in Muschamp’s defense.
  • Jonathan Bullard and Dante Fowler have a chance to be a dynamic combo along the defensive line, and Bullard has played both end and tackle throughout his career.
  • Linebacker Jarrad Davis could be a big-time contributor on defense and could be an All-SEC linebacker.
