SDS continues its series of predicting the game one starters for all 14 SEC teams. Next up, the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Mississippi State opens the season at home against Southern Miss, and here is our projected starting lineup:

Offense Defense
QB Dak Prescott DE Ryan Brown
RB Josh Robinson DT Chris Jones
WR De’Runnya Wilson DT Kaleb Eulls
WR Jameon Lewis DE Preston Smith
WR Robert Johnson OLB Beniquez Brown
TE Malcolm Johnson MLB Benardrick McKinney
LT Blaine Clausell OLB Matthew Wells
LG Jamaal Clayborn CB Jamerson Love
C Dillon Day CB Taveze Calhoun
RG Ben Beckwith SS Kendrick Market
RT Damien Robinson FS Justin Cox

Takeaways:

  • The offense is pretty much set for game one, and running back Josh Robinson could be one of the best kept secrets in the SEC.
  • The veteran offensive line, headlined by Blaine Clausell and Dillon Day, will be the backbone for Dan Mullen and Dak Prescott, and Jamaal Clayborn should replace Gabe Jackson at left guard.
  • Chris Jones has the most upside of anyone on defense, and linebacker Benardrick McKinney could be the best future NFL player on the roster.
  • The cornerback tandem of Jamerson Love and Taveze Calhoun will be very good, and Kendrick Market looks like a big-time player in the secondary.
