SDS continues its series of predicting the game one starters for all 14 SEC teams. Next up, the Auburn Tigers.

Auburn opens the season at home against Arkansas, and here is our projected starting lineup:

Offense Defense
QB Jeremy Johnson DE LaDarius Owens
RB Cameron Artis-Payne DT Gabe Wright
WR Sammie Coates DT Ben Bradley
WR D’haquille Williams DE DaVonte Lambert
WR Marcus Davis OLB Kris Frost
TE CJ Uzomah MLB Cassanova McKinzy
LT Shon Coleman Star Robenson Therezie
LG Chad Slade CB Jonathan Jones
C Reese Dismukes CB TJ Davis
RG Avery Young SS Derrick Moncrief
RT Patrick Miller FS Jermaine Whitehead

Takeaways:

  • It’s been well documented that Nick Marshall won’t start against Arkansas, and it’s still unsure how long Marshall will be held out of the game. Jeremy Johnson will start against the Hogs.
  • Following Alex Kozan’s season-ending injury, the offensive line shuffled a bit. Chad Slade moved from right guard to left, and Avery Young slid into the right guard slot, leaving Patrick Miller at right tackle.
  • JUCO transfer DaVonte Lambert has moved up the depth chart after Carl Lawson’s knee surgery, and he could start game one.
  • Star Robenson Therezie is currently suffering through some eligibility issues that could keep him out to start the season, but the staff is hopeful he can return in time. Cornerback Jonathon Mincy, like Marshall, won’t start against Arkansas, and TJ Davis could step into the starting role. Davis could also play the Star position if Therezie is held out.
