Ole Miss is set to hire Billy Glasscock as the program’s new general manager, according to a report from ESPN’s Chris Low.

Glasscock will come to Oxford after three seasons working on Steve Sarkisian’s staff at Texas as the Longhorns’ director of player personnel. Glassock replaces Austin Thomas, who held the position for the last two seasons.

Before Texas, Glasscock was the director of player personnel at NC State (2017-20) and the director of recruiting operations at Minnesota (2011-16). He also spent two seasons in a recruiting operations role at Northern Illinois and coached at both Arizona Western College and Joliet Junior College.

At Minnesota, Glasscock was recognized as one of the top recruiting directors in the country. He enjoyed similar success at NC State when it came to talent evaluation. At Texas, he had a hand in putting together a College Football Playoff roster.

On the heels of an 11-2 season, Ole Miss is looking to take the next step and break into the Playoff. The Rebels signed the 17th-ranked recruiting class this offseason, bolstered by the nation’s best transfer class.

The Portal King will still have his fingerprints on the Rebels’ recruiting efforts, but Glasscock will be the main point person for the operation. With the transfer portal exploding and NIL becoming more convoluted by the day, GMs have become indispensable for major college football programs.
