The loss of Hugh Freeze could potentially be devastating to the Ole Miss program on the field, although there is hope that interim coach Matt Luke can rally his troops and still have a productive season. However, the loss of starting quarterback Shea Patterson would undoubtedly destroy the Rebels’ dreams of having a great season this fall.

Given that Freeze unexpectedly resigned last week amid a scandal once his phone records were investigated, many questioned just how committed Patterson now was to the Ole Miss.

During his media availability Monday, Patterson was directly asked if he had considered a transfer following Freeze’s resignation.

“Like I said, it’s all just so much right now. I love this university, I love my teammates and with camp being August 2, all I want to do is go out there and play with my brothers that I love. The game I love. I can’t wait to start this new offense with Coach Longo,” Patterson answered. “We’re all excited about it.”

Interim Ole Miss coach Matt Luke brought up the quarterback during his portion of the press conference. Judging by the comments Luke attributed to Patterson, the Ole Miss quarterback isn’t planning on going anywhere.

“He said ‘Coach, let’s go win some football games,'” Luke said when commenting on Patterson.

Those comments combined should end all the speculation regarding that narrative in Oxford.
