Although the 2023 men’s basketball season is still a while from now, ESPN released its Way-Too-Early Preseason Top 25 on Monday. Four different SEC programs made Jeff Borzello’s list.

Tennessee was the highest ranked SEC team, coming in at No. 7. The Vols will be keeping Zakai Zeigler and Santiago Vescovi for at least another season. If Zeigler returns to form watch out.

At No. 10 was Arkansas. After reaching the Sweet 16 in this year’s NCAA Tournament the Razorbacks will be looking to build on their efforts. This could be especially true after Eric Musselman dipped into the transfer portal to replenish the roster.

If there’s one thing teams around the country shouldn’t do it’s to doubt John Calipari. 247Sports ranks Kentucky’s 2023 class as the best in the country. The Wildcats finished just behind Arkansas at No. 11.

Alabama came in as the top seed in the NCAA Tournament and ultimately lost to San Diego State in the Sweet 16. Although the loss stings, the Crimson Tide still have plenty of talent heading into 2023. This is why they were the No. 12 team in the rankings.

The transfer portal additions of Aaron Estrada and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. should have an impact.

Last but not least out of the SEC teams was Texas A&M at No. 17. Buzz Williams’ group finished with a 25-10 record. The Aggies made an appearance in the SEC Tournament Final and fans will be hungry for even more in 2023.

There was one SEC team that did not make the list, but was on the outside looking in.

Auburn finished the year at 21-13 after losing to Houston in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
