The Blue Devils of Marietta High School started their season on the right foot last night, beating Rome High School 48-14 on the road. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the lopsided home defeat for Rome was the school’s first home loss since 2015.

For those that don’t know, Marietta High School features several standout prospects including quarterback Harrison Bailey and offensive/defensive lineman BJ Ojulari, both four-star prospects and both Tennessee commits, in addition to five-star tight end/receiver prospect Arik Gilbert. Gilbert was already regarded as one of the nation’s top prospects entering this game and he did nothing to hinder that perception in the debut game of his senior season.

The senior caught nine passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the win and had social media buzzing after the game.

The nation’s No. 10 overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, remains uncommitted entering his senior season with Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Clemson among his top suitors at this time.

To get an idea of just how dominant Gilbert already is at the high school level, check out his highlights from Thursday night’s game against Rome in the clips below (Bailey is No. 5 and Gilbert No. 2 for Marietta). The Rome defenders were simply no match for the five-star receiver:

Without a doubt, his five-star status seems warranted based on these clips.
