The Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Poll is here, bringing the official start of the 2024 college football season one step closer!

Fans have already seen what the initial coaches’ poll rankings look like with Georgia on top of the heap and Ohio State right behind. To little surprise, the SEC and Big Ten dominated the coaches’ poll with 15 of the 25 total spots, and the preseason AP Poll looks very similar.

Georgia leads the way on the AP Poll, dominating the preseason numbers with 1,532 total points. Ohio State (1,490) and Oregon (1,403) were No. 2 and No. 3 behind the Bulldogs and the only other programs to eclipse 1,400 total points on the poll.

As for first-place votes, Kirby Smart’s UGA squad received 46 of the available top lines. Ohio State garnered 15 first-place votes and Oregon received a lone vote in the pole position.

The first 6 spots in the poll belong to SEC or Big Ten teams and 8 of the top 10 spots belong to the 2 leagues. Defending national champion Michigan checked in at No. 9 overall and did not register a first-place vote.

Fans will likely become used to seeing that layout in the major polls for the foreseeable future. The latest national championship odds from FanDuel have Georgia ahead of Ohio State at the top. Meanwhile, 8 of the top 10 teams in terms of odds to win the title hail from the new versions of the SEC and Big Ten. 12 of the top 15 spots also belong to the 2 power conferences.
