As we recently covered in an article analyzing which SEC schools were most dependent upon JUCO transfers, the SEC’s Mississippi schools have a huge advantage when it comes to landing these players.

That’s thanks to a large junior-college athletic system in the Magnolia State.

So when we sat down to determine which of the 2015 JUCO signees would have the biggest impact on the SEC this fall, it was no surprise that a Mississippi school holds three of the top choices.

Coming into fall camp, Auburn RB Jovon Robinson would have been the top candidate to make a list like this one. But with recent comments from the Auburn coaching staff putting him as low as third on the Tigers depth chart heading into the season, we have decided to leave him off this list of contributors at this point in time.

Here are five JUCO transfers that could have a huge impact on their teams in 2015:

DB Justin Evans, Texas A&M: The Aggies had one of the worst secondaries in the league in 2014, so the arrival of a JUCO transfer like Justin Evans is just the type of thing that new defensive coordinator was looking for in Year 1 of his attempt to turn around the Texas A&M defense. Evans, who transferred in from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, joined the team in the spring and seemed to carve out a role as a starting safety alongside sophomore Armani Watts. He is set to have an immediate impact on the Aggies defense, and could be one of the most impactful JUCO transfers of the year.

RB Alvin Kamara, Tennessee: Recently tagged by head coach Butch Jones as “the voice of the offense,” the stock for former Alabama running back Alvin Kamara is at an all-time high since his transfer to Tennessee. After spending a season at Hutchison Community College in Kansas (1,211 yards rushing, 18 touchdowns), Kamara arrived at Tennessee at 195 pounds in January. He is now listed at 215 pounds, indicating that he may be there to do more than just supplant Jalen Hurd in the Volunteers running game this season. Expect Kamara to earn a good share of the carries in 2015, and perhaps be the leading rusher on the team if Hurd is unable to stay healthy and effective.

DB Tony Bridges, Ole Miss: When you lose a cornerback that picked off 10 passes in 2014 and players are confident that the defensive backfield will be even better as result of the arrival of Bridges, you know you have an impact JUCO transfer on your hands. At 6-foot, Bridges should provide the Rebels with a fast, physical presence at the cornerback position. After earning NJCAA All-America honors, Bridges was considered the top JUCO cornerback by ESPN, Rivals and Scout, and finished second in the 247Sports rankings. If the Ole Miss defensive is going to maintain its elite level of production, a solid season from Bridges is needed.

DL D.J. Jones, Ole Miss: With the return of starters Robert Nkemdiche and Issac Gross, the defensive tackle position isn’t exactly one of great need for the Rebels in 2015. But Jones is just too good of a talent to leave off this list. Tagged as the No. 3 JUCO transfer in the country by 247Sports and the 14th strongest player in college football by NFL.com, the former East Mississippi Community College star will now have a chance to impact the nation’s top scoring defense from a year ago. He should be an immediate plug and play option in the Rebels defensive line rotation this fall.

QB Chad Kelly, Ole Miss: Currently in the midst of a three-man competition to replace Bo Wallace as the starting quarterback at Ole Miss, Kelly has the chance to be the top impact transfer in the country. The nephew of Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly has had his share of issues, which prompted his leaving Clemson for East Mississippi Community College. Kelly entered the competition with Ryan Buchanan and DeVante Kincade coming off a JUCO All-America performance (3,906 passing yards, 47 touchdowns). The Rebels have perhaps the most talented receiver in the league in Laquon Treadwell. If Kelly is able to emerge from camp with the starting job, expect those two to combine for a very nice season on an Ole Miss team that has SEC West title aspirations.

Others considered: RB Jovon Robinson, Auburn; DL Jeremiah Ledbetter, Arkansas; DL Marquavius Lewis, South Carolina; DL Dante Sawyer, South Carolina; OL Martinas Rankin, Mississippi State.
