While Georgia tries to upend Auburn and scoreboard watch the rest of the way in the race toward a division title, several other SEC East teams are fighting for bowl placement over the final three weeks of the season.

RELATED: Week 11 SEC Bowl Projections

On Friday, we’ll look at the SEC West bowl possibilities. Here’s the East projections …

MIZZOU TIGERS (7-2, 4-1)

The defending division champs are in the best position to make a return trip to Atlanta which would ensure the projected 10-win Tigers a spot in a premiere bowl game. The Outback Bowl (Tampa) gets first dibs after the Citrus (Orlando) and has selected an East representative three of the last four seasons. Mizzou could really mix up the projections by winning out and taking down Alabama or Mississippi State in the SEC Championship Game. We would then begin talking about non-semifinal New Year’s Six games.

GEORGIA BULLDOGS (7-2, 5-2)

Saturday night’s game against Auburn will likely decide the season for the Bulldogs who are looking at several, much different, bowl destinations. Ten wins would keep Georgia away from second-tier games in Nashville, Jacksonville and Charlotte, but a loss to Auburn followed by two victories to close out the slate makes things interesting.

FLORIDA GATORS (5-3, 4-3)

An attractive seven-win team should the Gators prevail in at least two of their final three regular-season games, the SEC East’s third-place team at year’s end has played in a Florida-based bowl game three consecutive years. We’re pegging Florida to play in Jacksonville thanks to a 7-5 finish, just behind Georgia and Mizzou in the division.

KENTUCKY WILDCATS (5-5, 2-5)

Trending on a downward slope, Kentucky’s lost three straight games since dreams of a bowl destination in Central Florida came to light in September. A strong seven-win finish could send the Wildcats to Florida, but six is more likely with Charlotte (Belk Bowl) being the strongest possibility against an ACC team not named Louisville.

TENNESSEE VOLS (4-5, 1-4)

There’s three winnable games remaining on the schedule for the Volunteers, but how many of those will Tennessee capture? Saturday’s matchup at home against Kentucky’s as close to a must-win as it can get down the final stretch. A loss puts Tennessee 4-6 with games against Mizzou and Vanderbilt deciding the remaining bowl picture. If the Vols won out, Jacksonville’s an option. A .500 record is more likely, sending Tennessee to Nashville, Memphis or Birmingham.

SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS (4-5, 2-5)

The Gamecocks’ bowl hopes could diminish Saturday with a loss at Florida. The final home game of the season next weekend against South Alabama’s a win, but the finale at Clemson will be a stiff challenge. We’re expecting a 6-6 finish and with losses against other .500 East teams Kentucky and Tennessee, the Gamecocks get the bottom of the bowl barrel. Last time South Carolina went to Birmingham, it was quite chilly in January.
