For SEC football fans who aren’t also fans of the Kansas City Chiefs or San Francisco 49ers, Sunday’s Super Bowl offers a chance to root for some of their favorite former college players to win the sport’s biggest game.

The Chiefs asked some of their players’ former college coaches to send messages of encouragement ahead of The Big Game. Les Miles, Phil Fulmer and Kirby Smart are the current and former SEC coaches who participated.

Miles is accurately labeled as the current Kansas head coach in the video, but his message is for former LSU standouts Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne. Miles reminds them that they’re ready for the moment, having played on the big stage before.

Fulmer tells Kansas City punter Dustin Colquitt that everyone in Tennessee is pulling for him and the Chiefs. Colquitt has 15 seasons of NFL experience.

Smart, with a cameo from his preferred method of transportation on the recruiting trail, tells Mecole Hardman that he’s “proud as hell” of the rookie wide receiver from UGA.

Kanas City’s active roster features nine total former SEC players:

  • Morris Claiborne, LSU
  • Dustin Colquitt, Tennessee
  • Rashad Fenton, South Carolina
  • Mecole Hardman, Georgia
  • Chris Jones, Mississippi State
  • Tyrann Mathieu, LSU
  • Reggie Ragland, Alabama
  • Demarcus Robinson, Florida
  • Armani Watts, Texas A&M
