Deion Sanders is satisfied with Colorado’s work in the transfer portal this offseason as the Buffaloes prepare for life in the Big 12.

Sanders and the Buffs will move to the Big 12 in 2024 alongside former Pac-12 foes Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. After a hot start, Colorado struggled down the stretch of Sanders’ first year at the helm. Colorado ended up going 4-8 and missed the postseason in 2023.

However, Sanders says Colorado was able to plug its holes in the transfer portal this offseason. He discussed his new-look roster on an episode of “Undisputed”  with Skip Bayless and Keyshawn Johnson on Tuesday.

“I can honestly say we fulfilled all the needs,” Sanders said of Colorado’s recruiting efforts this offseason. “We fulfilled a need on the offensive line. You’re probably going to see a whole new entire offensive line. You’re probably going to see a defensive line that’s probably going to be new as well.

“We’ve pretty much stepped up every level inside this building,” Sanders added. “And I’m happy and pleased. Like when I go downstairs to work out with the guys … I love what I see. I love the competitive nature. I love the leadership that’s being taken at every position. And I love what these guys want and how they’re going about getting it.”

Sanders did say Colorado plans to add “one or two” linebackers for depth ahead of the 2024 season.

Colorado has been very active in the transfer portal this offseason. The Buffs have commitments from 24 transfers already, could add more talent in the spring window. Colorado’s transfer class ranks No. 5 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Colorado’s high school recruiting class is very small compared to other Power-5 classes, as it currently contains just 6 signees. However, that group is led by 5-star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton, who could make an early impact on Colorado’s offensive line in 2024. Four of Colorado’s 6 commits from the high school ranks are considered blue-chip prospects, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
