Late last month, Coastal Carolina’s cheerleaders were suspended after the school’s president received an anonymous letter that contained some pretty intense allegations pertaining to the squad.

The allegations included prostitution, purchasing alcohol for underage members of the squad and paying other people to complete homework assignments. Details regarding the investigation were obtained by The Sun News, and they shed some light on some of the accusations.

“According to the investigation report obtained by The Sun News through a Freedom of Information request, cheerleaders involved in the escort services were paid between $100 and $1,500 per date,” Christian Boschult wrote in his report for The Sun News.

“Cheerleaders also would receive goods such as Michael Kors purses, as well as shoes and clothes, according to the investigation. One cheerleader was offered $800 to escort a male to New York Prime, according to the report.”

While the obtained report indicated the cheerleaders did not engage in sexual acts, the investigation did reportedly uncover evidence of an escort service. This service was run through the website seekingarrangement.com, The Sun News reports.

On Friday, the public relations manager for the website contacted The Sun News and expressed disappointment at the claims the school was making against its cheerleaders. The manager asserted that their website is a dating site, not one for escorts.

“To portray these women as ‘prostitutes’ just because you do not understand or agree with their dating choice is bullying,” Founder and CEO of the website Brandon Wade said in a statement, according to The Sun News’ Stephanie Pedersen. “We will not stand for slut shaming, and find it wildly inappropriate for a public university to comment and pass judgment on the dating habits of their students. Sugar Babies are not escorts they are ambitious, goal oriented individuals who is looking for a specific kind of relationship. If we were talking about a football player would we be having this conversation?”

The website’s officials have reportedly stated that they will pay the cheerleaders’ legal fees throughout this process. The investigation revealed that 11 cheerleaders were aware of the escort service.

No one has yet been charged or arrested, Pedersen reports.
