Ed Orgeron could be returning to the sidelines in 2023.

The former LSU coach was cited Monday by a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal to be among the top candidates to take over the UNLV program.

Orgeron coached the Tigers from 2016-21 and compiled a 51-20 record at the school.

He also, of course, won the 2019 national championship but was let go by the school after the 2021 season and was just 11-11 in his final 2 years.

Other potential candidates identified in the report include former Boise State and Washington coach Chris Petersen, as well as former Arizona coach  Mike Stoops and one-time Texas A&M head coach Kevon Sumlin.

UNLV finished its 2022 campaign at 5-7 and decided to part ways with Marcus Arroyo after 3 seasons.

Arroyo departs with an overall record at the school of just 7-23.
