The next game is always the biggest game, but both LSU and Ole Miss are starting down an important one in Week 5.

The Tigers look to remain undefeated in SEC play while Ole Miss searches for its first conference win of the season following last week’s disappointing loss to Alabama. The Rebels get the Tigers at home this time around after travelling to Tuscaloosa last week.

ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) is giving the nod to the home team on this one. The metric gives Ole Miss a 56.6% chance of winning Saturday, a slight advantage but still an advantage nonetheless.

This should be a fairly high-scoring affair, so be sure to take the over on this one. LSU leads the SEC in total yards per game (530), with Ole Miss not far behind at 3rd place (470). Both have played a few strong opponents, so those numbers are a fairly good indicator through the first 4 weeks of the season.

But we’ll know a lot more about each team following this week.

Here’s what we do know: LSU may have the top QB in the SEC, and that will win you a lot of games. Jayden Daniels has shown a knack to beat teams with his legs and his arm this season. He’s currently the No. 1 QB in the SEC in terms of total passing yards, passing yards per game and passing touchdowns.

Daniels is 2nd to only Jaxson Dart in rushing yards per game by a quarterback. The Ole Miss signal caller has been solid to his own regard this season and sits 4th in the SEC in total passing yards per game, behind Daniels, USC’s Spencer Rattler and Georgia’s Carson Beck.

Defensively, there’s a lot to be desired from both squads. The Tigers and Rebels are both in the bottom 5 of the SEC in total yards allowed per game. Expect 3rd down to be a big factor in this one.

Ole Miss and LSU will kick off at 6 p.m. ET from Oxford on ESPN.
