The LSU Tigers are the 2019 season national champions after thumping Clemson 42-25 in New Orleans.

Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow accounted for six total touchdowns (five passing and one rushing), and receiver Ja’Marr Chase caught nine passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Burrow also broke the record for the most touchdown passes in NCAA history for one season knocking off former Hawaii signal caller Colt Brennan.

Clemson will have to wait another year for another title shot, but that program isn’t going away. Dabo Swinney has Clemson loaded with talent again in 2020, and the Tigers will be looking for some revenge.

LSU was ranked No. 6 in the the 2019 preseason AP Top 25, while Clemson was ranked No. 1.

The final Associated Press Top 25 was released early Tuesday morning. All total, five SEC teams finished in the top 25, including four in the top eight.
