Jalen Hurts once again grabbed headlines this week due to the Senior Bowl giving him a customized helmet that honored his time at both Alabama and Oklahoma.

This weekend, Hurts will play in the Senior Bowl ahead of this spring’s NFL Draft, and pro scouts are getting a first-hand look at the signal caller. Hurts, of course, had a fantastic college career as a quarterback with both the Tide and the Sooners. Hurts threw for nearly 9,500 yards, 80 touchdowns and 20 INTs during his four years. He also added over 3,200 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns. At OU, Hurts rushed for 21 touchdowns in 2019 alone.

So, the question becomes will Hurts play quarterback in the NFL. He was asked about the possibility of changing positions during his media availability at the Senior Bowl.

“I’ve always been a team first guy, but I’m a quarterback,” Hurts told reporters at the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Hurts’ passing game has been criticized throughout his career, and facing more talented defensive backs in the NFL would give him more problems. However, it now becomes about “fit” at the pro level.

Hurts could play a number of positions in the NFL, but getting the right fit team-wise would certainly keep him at quarterback. The Baltimore Ravens — backing up Lamar Jackson — would come to mind.

It’ll be interesting to see Hurts’ draft stock post-NFL Combine.
