Jalen Hurts not concerned about Oklahoma-Texas rivalry: 'I played in the Iron Bowl'
During his time at Alabama, Jalen Hurts played in national championship games, SEC title games, the Iron Bowl and other big-time rivalry games.
Now at Oklahoma, you’d think he’d get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to playing in big matchups, but someone still asked him about his first Red River Rivalry experience, which will take place next week when Oklahoma and Texas square off.
Hurts had a perfectly nonchalant answer, citing the Iron Bowl while saying he thinks he’ll be just fine:
Jalen Hurts asked about the Red River game: “I played in the Iron Bowl. I’ve played in big games. Think I’ll be alright.”

Hurts is currently having a Heisman-caliber season, throwing for 1,523 yards and 14 touchdowns and adding 499 yards and 7 scores as a runner through 5 games. Hurts is battling former Alabama teammate Tua Tagovailoa and former SEC West rival and LSU quarterback Joe Burrow for the Heisman Trophy.
How will he fare against Texas? We’ll find out next weekend.
