One of the more interesting Heisman Trophy races in recent history is playing out right now.

Four quarterbacks — all of whom have played in the SEC — are having unbelievable seasons. Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa lead the nation in passer rating after Week 5. All three quarterbacks are putting up silly numbers through five weeks, and former UGA signal caller Justin Fields may lead the best team in the nation at Ohio State.

Fields totaled four touchdowns in the win over Nebraska Saturday night on the national stage.

Finebaum hopped on SportsCenter Sunday morning to rank his top four Heisman contenders.

  1. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama: “Tua is No. 1. I think he’s the best player in the country right now, and he’s proving that every single week.”
  2. Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma: “I feel like I’ve been talking about him forever. Jalen and Tua will battle in New York for the Heisman just like last year.”
  3. Justin Fields, Ohio State: “Justin Fields has been unbelievable this year.”
  4. Joe Burrow, LSU: “He was at Ohio State, and he’s probably glad he wasn’t there anymore. He’s having a fantastic year.”

Tagovailoa has thrown for 23 touchdowns and no INTs through five games. Hurts has thrown for 1,295 yards, rushed for 443 yards and totaled 17 touchdowns. Burrow has thrown for 17 touchdowns, while Fields has thrown for 16.

This is going to be a fun Heisman Trophy race in 2019.
