WATCH: ESPN's Laura Rutledge announces she's pregnant
Laura Rutledge will soon be returning to TV screens across the country when college football season arrives, but this year, it’ll be a little bit different.
In a video shared Friday night, Rutledge and her husband Josh announce they are expecting a baby girl in October. This is obviously wonderful news for the Rutledges.
Below is the announcement:

ESPN signed Rutledge to a multi-year extension last July. She hosts Saturday mornings on the SEC Network for the pregame show “SEC Nation,” as well as appear on other shows within ESPN.
“Laura is the ultimate utility player,” SEC Network senior coordinating producer Tom McCollum said in a press release upon signing Rutledge to an extension. “Turn on your television on Saturday mornings during the fall, Friday nights during the winter or throughout spring weekends in May and June, and, more often than not, you will see Laura. She gives everything she has to her colleagues and her craft, and we’re better for it. She truly connects with the subjects whose stories she shares, and it’s something we’ll benefit from for years to come.”
I want to see tough guys on television talking about football. And I want to see graceful women on television talking about women’s figure skating. I want to see long-tall-quick women telling me about NCAA women’s volleyball…. and I want to see limber lightning quick brusing spider-men talking about our top NCAA wrestlers. I can go my whole life without hearing a woman announce that she pregnant, and I sure don’t feel the need to learn about it in any football story. If I do suddenly get the urge to hear women talk about this, I’ll join a group of some kind and get in touch with that part of my humanity. Maybe we need Performance Enhancing Hormones for the men who plan football media presentations, because THIS is pathetically out of place.
Shhh… the SJWs will hear you!
X2
I’m with you but…….big congratulations to she and her husband!
I mean she did attend the University of Florida and is on a college football show on ESPN…
The point is she shouldn’t be.
this is a really, exceptionally bad take, wolfman.
your opinion is as good as anyone else’s and more power to you
Yeah, I’m sure you are an absolutely perfect fit for whatever pathetic job it is you do. And just where in the headline did it infer it was a “football story”? Oh, that’s right, it didn’t!
I couldn’t agree more. It makes angry how women are invading all aspects of mens sports yet when they need to have their own space, in sports or other aspects of life, thats fine.
Shouldn’t it read that she’s got a “fetus” or “cluster of cells”?
*Waisted*
Congratulations to them but I don’t see how this info belongs on this site. It’s not football related.
Congrats to you Laura, and your husband as well. As for SDS? I know it’s the slow time but I really don’t need to hear that Laura Rutledge got knocked up.
Man, there are some seriously tasteless comments here. Either don’t say anything and have people wonder if you are an uncouth idiot, or like some here happily eager to prove it.
Congrats to Laura and her husband. Best wishes for a healthily baby.
Good take. I’ll guarantee you those haters saw the headline of the article and read it anyway.
Good for her!
