Fresh off being named the MVP at the prestigious “The Opening” camp, 5-star dual-threat QB Justin Fields is the newly-rated No. 1 player in the country, according to 247Sports. The outlet updated its player rankings Monday.

Fields jumped up one spot, leaping fellow Georgia QB Trevor Lawrence (Clemson commit).

Both Fields and Lawrence competed against one another at The Opening, and Fields had the better camp. Obviously, the season still isn’t here yet, and there’s still plenty time for Lawrence to get back his No. 1 spot.

Nonetheless, the hype continues to build for Fields, the former Penn State commit. The Kennesaw, Ga. product decommitted from the Nittany Lions in early June, and now, he has programs around the country at his doorstep. Three main SEC schools are in a heated battle: Auburn, Florida and Georgia. Along with the trio, FSU is a big player for his signature, too.

It will be interesting to see where Fields ends up.

Aside from Fields, eight SEC commits are ranked among the top 100 players in the country. Georgia RB commit Zamir White (No. 6) is the only SEC commit ranked in the top 10. No. 35 Greg Emerson (Tennessee commit), No. 38 Cade Mays (Tennessee commit), No. 54 Kelvin Joseph (LSU commit), No. 78 Leon O’Neal Jr. (Texas A&M commit), No. 86 Stephon Wynn (Alabama commit), No. 93 Jalyn Armour-Davis (Alabama commit) and No. 100 Darian Kinnard (Kentucky commit) also ranked inside the top 100.
