The midpoint in the season brings a fresh look at the national championship odds as teams shift more into conference play and the contenders begin to separate themselves from the pack.

SEC teams remain heavily in the mix for the College Football Playoff and national championship, according to updated odds from BetOnline.ag. Five of the top 15 teams with the best odds hail from the SEC, including three of the top five, in Alabama, LSU and Georgia.

With a host of monumental games on tap beginning this week with Florida at LSU, Alabama at Texas A&M, Penn State at Iowa, which all involve ranked teams, the odds should shift plenty by Sunday and beyond. The Nittany Lions also next week play host to Michigan, while on Oct. 26, Ohio State plays host to Wisconsin in a seemingly top 10 matchup.

Of course, one of the more noteworthy games in the SEC comes on Nov. 9 with LSU at Alabama. But the next week, with Georgia at Auburn, could be just as dramatic for the polls, rankings, odds, and CFP discussion. Both of those games could be elimination scenarios.
