Potential College Football Playoff candidates Michigan State and Ohio State dropped big games while the SEC’s eight ranked teams went unbeaten Saturday during an exciting college football weekend.

Last week’s AP poll included four SEC teams with first-place votes, the first that a single league has received that much love since the rankings began in 1960. We’ve included the Week 2 AP Poll to give you an idea of how the nation’s elite looked prior to Saturday’s results.

3. Oregon (2-0) beat Michigan State 46-27. Next: vs. Wyoming, Saturday — Trailing by nine points in the third quarter, the Ducks ran off 28 unanswered to pummel the Spartans.

5. Auburn (2-0) beat San Jose State 59-13. Next: at Kansas State, Thursday — Cameron Artis-Payne crossed the goal line three times during the Tigers’ second consecutive rout.
