Unfortunately, ESPN hasn’t rolled out an SEC version of NFL RedZone for the conference’s new network. It would fit well on the alternate channel and would’ve rocked last weekend, as SEC teams scored a dizzying 559 points.

Comparing the teams by red zone scoring percentage on offense and defense through two weeks, LSU (second in both) is the only conference program to rate high in both categories.

Auburn is one (made) field goal away from 11 red zone trips and 11 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Ole Miss defense has allowed one touchdown in five red zone trips by Boise State and Vanderbilt, the lowest percentage in the SEC.

OFFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

Texas A&M didn’t score 52 and 73 points by casually advancing the ball three yards at a time. Yet the Aggies still have managed a conference-best 15 red zone trips in just two games, converting 14 of them into points.

Oh, and that one possession? It ended with a first-and-goal at the South Carolina 3-yard line after Texas A&M drained the final 10:05 of the fourth quarter, moving 78 yards in 17 plays.

Three offenses have scored every red zone trip — Auburn, LSU and South Carolina.

Tennessee (13), Alabama (12), Auburn (11) and Ole Miss (10) all have double-digit red zone trips in two games.

Oh, and Vanderbilt? The Commodores have managed to advance past the opponent’s 21-yard line four times, leading to a grand total of one field goal.

(OK, so Vandy actually inherited the ball at the Ole Miss 5, ran three plays for minus-four yards and then kicked the field goal. But be nice to the ‘Dores.)

DEFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

The Mississippi schools have allowed a combined two red zone touchdowns in eight possessions.

Maybe we can expect a low-scoring Egg Bowl?

South Carolina (13) and Vanderbilt (12) are the only two SEC schools to allow more than six red zone possessions by opposing offenses. Of those 25 possessions, opponents have scored on 23. (Yikes!)

Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Alabama have allowed just one red zone touchdown in two games, while Florida didn’t allow Eastern Michigan to reach the red zone.
