SDS 64-team Playoff: Alabama tops Oregon for title
Not happy with a four-team Playoff?
More football is good, so we’ve decided to expand the season by several weeks with the introduction of the SDS 64, a ‘Winter Madness’ style tournament with an emphasis on conference championships, strength of schedule and any factors we see fit.
Each region has its own theme, dominant teams and laughable neutral site hosts.
Today, we reveal our champion.

- TODAY: Final Four, Champion
National Championship — ALABAMA 38, Oregon 31
Summary: In the matchup we all want to see this season (well, Florida State would work too as the SEC’s final opponent), Alabama managed to slip past the Ducks for the SEC’s eighth national championship since 2006. Quarterback Blake Sims, who wasn’t the Crimson Tide’s porjected starting quarterback entering the season, earned MVP honors with three touchdowns passes against an Oregon secondary playing without star corner Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. Leading by a touchdown midway through the fourth at AT&T Stadium, Alabama sophomore Derrick Henry galloped 73 yards for the game-clinching score. Marcus Mariota drove his team down the field to pull within seven points, but Oregon’s onside kick attempt in the final minute sailed out of play, securing Alabama’s first title in the Playoff era.
