SEC baseball has entered the final month of the regular season. There are 3 weekends left before the top 12 squads will pack up and head to Hoover, Alabama for the conference tournament.

This time of year, fans are starting to look at the NCAA Tournament projections. The SEC has long been one of college baseball’s most dominant conferences.

This year, D1Baseball and Baseball America are projecting that 10 teams from the SEC make the field of 64. Five programs are projected to be Regional hosts, with 4 potentially being top-8 national seeds in control of hosting a Super Regional.

Here’s a look at the latest projections:

Texas A&M: 39-6 (15-6 SEC)

Texas A&M is currently ranked No. 1 and is projected to be the NCAA Tournament’s No. 1 overall seed by both D1Baseball and Baseball America.

At 15-6 in conference play, the Aggies are currently 1 game behind both Arkansas and Kentucky for the regular-season SEC title. Tennessee is also 15-6.

Up next for Texas A&M is a trip to Baton Rouge for a 3-game series with defending national champion LSU (Friday-Sunday).

  • D1Baseball: No. 1 national seed, Regional host
  • Baseball America: No. 1 national seed, Regional host

Arkansas: 39-7 (16-5 SEC)

Arkansas sits atop the SEC West entering the final month of the SEC regular season. The Razorbacks are tied with Kentucky for the regular-season conference title. The tie will be broken this weekend as the division leaders face off in a 3-game series.

Dave Van Horn’s squad is sure to be hosting a Regional. As a projected top-8 seed, the Hogs would be in line to host a Super Regional, as well.

  • D1Baseball: No. 2 national seed, Regional host
  • Baseball America: No. 2 national seed, Regional host

Tennessee: 37-8 (15-6 SEC)

Tennessee is once again in the hunt for a regular-season SEC championship ahead of the conference tournament. Ahead of a Thursday-Saturday series at Florida, the Vols are just 1 game behind division leaders Kentucky and Arkansas, who happen to be facing each other this weekend.

UT is on track to be playing in front of a home crowd for a spot in the College World Series.

  • D1Baseball: No. 4 national seed, Regional host
  • Baseball America: No. 5 national seed, Regional host

Kentucky: 33-9 (16-5 SEC)

Kentucky has been the conference’s surprise team, taking the lead in the SEC East. UK’s division lead, though, is shrinking after back-to-back series losses to Tennessee and South Carolina.

The Wildcats face Arkansas, the top team in the SEC West and co-leader in the conference title roster. Currently, Kentucky is projected to be a top-8 national seed to host a Regional and potential Super Regional.

  • D1Baseball: No. 5 national seed, Regional host
  • Baseball America: No. 7 national seed, Regional host

South Carolina: 30-14 (11-10 SEC)

South Carolina dominated its nonconference schedule and has managed to be above .500 in SEC play, which has the Gamecocks in line to host a Regional.

If South Carolina advances to the Super Regional, though, the club could be going on the road. Current projections are outside the top 8 national seeds.

Baseball America pairs the Columbia Regional with Tallahassee (Florida State), while D1Baseball goes with Knoxville (Tennessee).

The Gamecocks will look to add more conference wins to their resume against Mizzou.

  • D1Baseball: No. 10 national seed, Regional host
  • Baseball America: No. 12 national seed, Regional host

Mississippi State: 30-15 (12-9 SEC)

Mississippi State sits at third in the SEC West standings, 4 games behind Arkansas (tied for conference lead) and 3 games behind Texas A&M.

While the regular-season conference title is likely to go to one of the four teams that have won 15 conference games (Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas A&M) the Bulldogs are well-positioned to be playing postseason baseball.

Heading into a weekend series against Alabama, MSU is projected in the field of 64 but not a national seed.

D1Baseball: Durham Regional (2-seed)
Baseball America: Tallahassee Regional (2-seed)

Vanderbilt: 32-13 (11-10 SEC)

The Vandy Boys look to be NCAA Tournament bound, but they’ll have to go on the road. Like others, Vanderbilt dominated nonconference action but has been up-and-down in SEC play.

Ahead of a division clash with Georgia, the Commodores are not a national seed.

D1Baseball: Terre Haute Regional (2-seed)
Baseball America: Terre Haute Regional (2-seed)

Georgia: 32-12 (10-11 SEC)

Georgia dismissed Scott Stricklin after 10 seasons, looking to get the program back in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs are on track to do just that in Wes Johnson’s first season.

Eleven of UGA’s 12 losses have come to SEC teams. Georgia’s May slate begins with a Vanderbilt series. The Dawgs are projected to be playing away from home in the NCAA Tournament.

D1Baseball: Clemson Regional (2-seed)
Baseball America: Durham Regional (2-seed)

Alabama: 28-16 (9-12 SEC)

Alabama is below .500 in SEC play, but should pick up enough conference wins to make the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide is on the road to face Mississippi State Friday-Sunday.

If the projections hold, UA should not expect a warm welcome. Plenty of UNC basketball fans won’t be happy to see crimson after Alabama’s March Madness win over North Carolina.

D1Baseball: Chapel Hill Regional (2-seed)
Baseball America: Chapel Hill Regional (2-seed)

Florida: 23-21 (9-12 SEC)

Florida entered the 2024 college baseball season as one of the highest-ranked teams in the country. Entering the last month of the regular season, the Gators are on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

Kevin O’Sullivan thinks that if the Gators can take care of business in May, they could be one of those clubs that surprises people and maybe win it all.

For now, Florida’s focus is on winning 4 of its final 9 SEC games against Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia. The series with the Vols begins Thursday at 7 p.m. ET in Gainesville.

D1Baseball: Last Four In: Stillwater Regional (3-seed)
Baseball America: Last Four In: Stillwater Regional (3-seed, No. 61 overall)

LSU: 29-17 (7-14 SEC)

LSU lost key pieces from its 2023 national championship squad, but no one expected a dropoff like this. Entering the final month of the regular season, the Tigers are on the outside looking in of the NCAA Tournament.

The Bayou Bengals got off to a 3-12 start in SEC play. LSU has gone 4-2, picking up its first two SEC series wins of the season over Mizzou and Auburn.

The Tigers will need to keep it going against Texas A&M to keep NCAA Tournament hopes alive.

D1Baseball: Not projected in field of 64 or First Four Out
Baseball America: First Four Out: No. 68 overall

Ole Miss: 23-21 (7-14 SEC)

Ole Miss has work to do to make the NCAA Tournament. The Rebels are just above .500 at 23-21 overall, but only 7-14 in SEC play.

Mike Bianco’s squad needs six more SEC wins to get to the desired 13 conference victories. Ole Miss has a good chance to pick up some SEC wins against an Auburn team that has not won a conference series.

D1Baseball: Not projected in field of 64 or First Four Out
Baseball America: Next Four Out: No. 69 overall
