SEC Bowl projections following Week 6: Georgia stamps 6th win, Mizzou falters

To the shock of nobody, Georgia is the first bowl eligible SEC squad and 1 of just 5 teams in the country to reach bowl eligibility status with 6 wins.

Just about everyone predicted a 6-0 start, though. But it was still an important win for the Bulldogs. Georgia looked dominant in their dispatching of No. 20 Kentucky, 51-13, their first time truly looking like a No. 1 team this season.

Alabama looked great, too. The Tide beat a good Texas A&M team in College Station behind an inspired defensive performance and what was Jalen Milroe’s best outing as an Alabama QB.

Ole Miss looked good against Arkansas while playing a little banged up. Tre Harris’ injury issues are becoming slightly concerning, and the last thing the Rebels need is Jaxson Dart shy of 100%. This Rebels team is good enough to reach a NY6 if they can stay healthy.

The middle tier of the SEC is a wilderness to navigate. LSU takes the cake over Mizzou right now and has a slightly nicer schedule moving forward, so they’ll get the Citrus Bowl.

Texas A&M dropped from the ReliaQuest Bowl for a few reasons. For one, that Aggies loss to Miami is looking worse and worse, and it makes you question Texas A&M’s efficacy on the road heading into Week 7 in Neyland Stadium against the Vols.

For another, A&M could lose 2 or 3 more games with Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU all upcoming. I predict they’ll go 1-2 across that stretch, which points to an 8-4 record.

Mizzou is put in the higher-rated ReliaQuest Bowl simply because of their schedule. I like the Tigers over Tennessee in CoMo in early November; that’s really what it comes down to.

Arkansas is in trouble and could potentially miss out on 6 wins entirely. In fact, it’s looking more probable than not. South Carolina and Florida are also in danger of missing out on 6 wins by season’s end.
