There are one-and-dones like Blake Sims, Dylan Thompson and Hutson Mason.

There are starters who lost their jobs at some point in Kenny Hill, Anthony Jennings, and Jeff Driskel.

Then there are decorated guys who will graduate or could leave for the NFL draft in Nick Marshall, Bo Wallace and Dak Prescott.

Who knows what Vanderbilt is doing at quarterback, and Tennessee found one in Josh Dobbs, but Arkansas, Kentucky and Missouri will return their all-year starters.

Of those with less clear QB situations, who has it the worst heading into 2015? The SDS staff debates.

EXCLUDING SCHOOLS WITH RETURNING STARTERS, WHICH SEC PROGRAM HAS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM AT QUARTERBACK IN 2015?

Ethan Levine (@EthanLevineSDS): South Carolina

The Gamecocks posted a modest 7-6 record in 2014 thanks to an electrifying offense that compensated all year for one of the SEC’s worst defenses. The South Carolina defense may improve in 2015, but the way this team is set up it will need to continue to win on the offensive side of the ball to be successful in the SEC. Carolina made the most out of Dylan Thompson’s one year under center, and now have even fewer options at the game’s most important position. An unproven, lackluster quarterback could hold back a very talented Gamecocks offense expected to return key contributors like Pharoh Cooper and Brandon Wilds. Other SEC schools like Georgia and Ole Miss will find themselves in trouble at the quarterback position, but those teams won’t suffer nearly as much without one as South Carolina might next season.

Brad Crawford (@BCrawfordSDS): South Carolina

Redshirt freshman Connor Mitch is expected to replace Dylan Thompson under center on an offense headlined by emerging star Pharoh Cooper on the outside. The former four-star passer out of Raleigh, N.C., played minimal snaps this season as the primary No. 2 and will likely be in a three-player battle for the job during spring and fall practice with Perry Orth and Michael Scarnecchia. Mitch doesn’t wow you with arm strength or running ability, but knows the South Carolina offense heading into his third season. Keep an eye on Lorenzo Nunez as well, an incoming four-star freshman in the 2015 class.

Jason Hall (@JasonHallSDS): Ole Miss

While it seemed Chad Kelly was a clear cut favorite to replace Bo Wallace, his off the field exploits continue to raise eyebrows. The rest of the Rebels’ depth chart includes Devante Kincade, Ryan Buchanan and Kendrick Doss, who each have limited to no previous playing time. Kelly needs to prove that he’s mature enough to lead an offense and represent a major college football program. Thus far, the former Clemson commit has proven otherwise.

Jon Cooper (@JonSDS): Georgia

Georgia’s offense has many questions for 2015. While the offensive coordinator is a bigger question, the Bulldogs’ quarterback position isn’t pretty. Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta will battle for the job this spring, and redshirt freshman Jacob Park will also get a look. Aside from the Commodores, Georgia has some massive questions at quarterback for 2015.

Jordan Cox (@Jordan_Cox): Ole Miss

It’s either Florida or Ole Miss, but I’ll take the Rebels. Bo Wallace departs as, statistically, the greatest quarterback in program history. He can solidify that with a strong Peach Bowl performance. The news of JUCO transfer Chad Kelly’s signing upped the play of backups Ryan Buchanan and DaVante Kincaid during bowl preparations, according to Rebels beat reporters. Neither one, however, showed much of anything in the action they saw in 2014 — specifically that 30-0 loss at Arkansas during which Wallace was hurt for a few series.

Hugh Freeze’s decision on how to discipline Kelly for his off-field transgressions will have a significant impact on the quarterback race in Oxford this spring and fall. Upon his signing, Kelly was assumed to be Wallace’s successor, and that picture now seems a bit fuzzier. The quarterback position is the biggest question mark for Freeze entering next season.

Brett Weisband (@WeisbandSDS): South Carolina

Connor Mitch was supposed to be the heir apparent, the player that was supposed to keep Steve Spurrier in coaching because of his talent. Mitch hasn’t shown anything yet though, and he did so little to impress Spurrier this year that the Head Ball Coach said that Dylan Thompson wouldn’t be pulled even after four interceptions. Mitch’s brief action in 2014 was underwhelming and marked by poor decisions. South Carolina has incoming freshman Lorenzo Nunez, a mobile quarterback more in the mold of Connor Shaw. Will Spurrier turn back to the type of quarterback that led his team to 33 wins in three years, or hand the reins over to Mitch, who he once saw unlimited promise in?

Drew Laing (@DLaingSDS): South Carolina

Perry Orth and Connor Mitch threw a combined eight passes in 2014. Eight. Wide receiver Pharoh Cooper had just as many by himself. Heading into the offseason and then the 2015 season, no one knows exactly what we’ll see out of Orth or Mitch. They don’t have much experience and they’ll be forced to follow the school’s most prolific single-season passer in Dylan Thompson. Spurrier better hope one player stands out because it certainly won’t be an easy decision to make considering there’s not much to go on.
