The Georgia Bulldogs are predicted by nearly everyone to win the SEC East again in 2018.

The Bulldogs return a ton of talent and experience, and they are primed for another big season. With the way Kirby Smart is recruiting, Georgia could take over the East for the foreseeable future.

But who will be the second best team this year?

Analyst and former Vanderbilt QB Jordan Rodgers joined the SEC Network to break down the arguments for four other teams: Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Missouri. Sadly, Tennessee or Vanderbilt weren’t discussed.

Here are Rodgers’ thoughts on the four:

On Florida: “For me, first and foremost is Florida. I think they have the most talent top to bottom on that roster. You bring Dan Mullen there. He is brought there for one reason — to find them or to groom them a quarterback. I think it’s going to be Feleipe Franks. I think they have a chance to be really talented. The pieces are there, and oh by the way, Todd Grantham is one heck of a defensive coordinator. He’s going to bring that mentality of swagger back to Florida.”

On South Carolina: “Maybe not the most talented roster, but Jake Bentley is a gamer. Deebo (Samuel) is going to be back. So, this offense will be much improved. A healthy Rico Dowdle. This was an offense last year that was broken. They had injuries. They were limited. Jake Bentley is a star. Bryan McLendon is going to bring an up-tempo offense. I think they’re going to be much-improved.”

On Kentucky: “This is a sneaky one. Benny Snell Jr. one of the more talented guys in the SEC. You have players coming back that should have been picked — could have gone to the NFL on the defensive side of the ball. I think this is a complete roster. The one question mark is the quarterback position. If that comes together, Kentucky will surprise you.”

On Missouri: “Drew Lock and Drew Lock alone could make Missouri a contender in the SEC East. He’s that good. This offense can score on anybody. Can they slow it down enough to make sure this defense gets off the field and can stop somebody every now and then?”

South Carolina was the media’s pick this preseason to finish second, and time will only tell if this holds up.
