It’s clear that the Football Writers Association of America and National Football Foundation think quite highly of the SEC.

The organizations’ joint Super 16 poll placed five SEC teams among the top 14 heading into Week 8, headlined by No. 1 Alabama. The Crimson Tide claimed all but one first-place vote, with the outlier going to No. 4 Notre Dame.

LSU jumped to No. 5 following its convincing win against Georgia, which fell to No. 8 and lost its first-place vote from last week. Florida checked in at No. 11 after a scare against Vanderbilt, and Kentucky moved back into the rankings at No. 14 despite a bye week.

Texas A&M earned the most votes outside the poll with 64. Mississippi State (10), Auburn (3) and Ole Miss (1) were the only other SEC teams to receive a vote in the poll.
