So, did you enjoy beat-down Saturday?

Since this is a stats article, the SEC is 20-1 against non-conference opponents this season. How’s that for a stat? The conference went 12-1 yesterday with the only loss being Vanderbilt. Consequently, Vanderbilt has the SEC’s only non-conference loss against Temple in Week 1, too.

Several teams put up silly numbers this weekend. Texas A&M hung a 73 spot on Lamar, and Auburn rolled up 358 rushing yards against San Jose State, with Arkansas rushing for 495 yards against Nicholls State. The SEC outscored non-conference opponents 550-129 during Week 2, including three shutouts by Alabama, Florida and LSU.

Three receivers are off to a huge start. LSU’s Travin Dural, Alabama’s Amari Cooper and Auburn’s D’haquille Williams continue to torch defensive secondaries and just put up silly, silly numbers. Dural has just six catches, but he’s recorded 291 yards and four touchdowns, good for 48.5 yards per catch. Amari Cooper leads the SEC with 25 catches for 319 yards and one touchdown.

Florida leads the SEC in scoring, over Texas A&M and Auburn. Of course, it was against Eastern Michigan, and the Gators have only played one game, but that still has to feel good for Will Muschamp. The Gators are averaging 65 points per game, with Texas A&M averaging 62.5 and Auburn averaging 52 per game.
