The SEC is well-represented in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

A total of 8 SEC teams were chosen as regional hosts for the 2023 tournament, the NCAA announced on Sunday evening. It’s the first time in history that one conference has produced 8 regional hosts for the NCAA Tournament.

It is not yet known which of these teams will be amongst the top 8 seeds who would also be in line to host a Super Regional.

Here are are 8 SEC teams who will host a regional: Florida, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Alabama and South Carolina.

Florida reached the semifinals of the SEC Tournament in Hoover this week, but were ousted by eventual-champion Vanderbilt. The Gators finished the regular season tied with Arkansas with a SEC record of 20-10.

Vanderbilt was easy selection for one of the 16 host spots. The Commodores won the SEC Tournament on Sunday and earned the SEC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Arkansas was the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament this week and reached the semifinals before being eliminated by Texas A&M. The Razorbacks have won their regional in the last 4 NCAA Tournaments.

Auburn also received regional hosting honors. The Tigers went 1-2 at the SEC Tournament this week, but finished the year with the 5th best regular season record in the SEC.

Kentucky earned a spot as well. The Wildcats 36-18 overall this season, thanks in-part to an excellent record on their home field. They went 25-6 in Lexington this season.

Alabama will have a chance to get out of the regional round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. The Tide have not made it to Omaha since 1999.

South Carolina earned one of the 16 invites as well. The Gamecocks were considered to be a toss-up for one of the regional host spots, but ended up getting the nod.

The other 8 programs who will host a regional are Virginia, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Indiana State, Miami, Stanford, Oklahoma State and Wake Forest.
