SEC players have been known to take the NFL by storm, and that is happening yet again in 2024. This time, it’s a quartet of star rookies produced by Georgia and LSU that combined for a unique bit of history this season.
Following Sunday’s action, Field Yates revealed that Brock Bowers, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Ladd McConkey have each eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving. That makes this the first season in NFL history for 4 different rookies to reach the 1,000-yard plateau.
Bowers and McConkey starred alongside one another in Athens, and Bowers produced a particularly remarkable campaign after breaking Mike Ditka’s rookie record for receiving yards by a TE. The TE is up to 1,144 receiving yards as the top receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders. McConkey is also the leading receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers with 1,054 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Nabers and Thomas are a former LSU duo with both players used to recording 1,000 yards. Both players had over 1,100 yards 14+ touchdowns during the 2024 campaign for the Tigers.
Nabers especially went off on Sunday with 7 catches for 171 yards and 2 touchdowns, setting a new career high in the process. He is now up to 1,140 yards with the New York Giants in spite of some spotty quarterback play throughout the season.
Thomas landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and quickly became a favorite target of QB Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones. He now has 1,179 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season as a building block for the offense moving forward.
