Sonny Dykes joined in on the chorus of critics about realignment and its lasting impact on college football during his time this week at Big 12 Media Days.

Dykes also called out the moves in realignment that don’t make sense to him, and added, “If it’s all about lining your pockets with money, the decisions are really easy.”

“Missouri was playing in a lot of Big 12 championships … haven’t seen that much in the SEC,” Dykes said, per Melissa Triebwasser. “A&M was a competitive program, not as often now. I don’t know about you but UCLA and Rutgers feels like a natural rivalry to me.”

Dykes, who led TCU to the national championship game last season, has coached at Louisiana Tech, Cal, SMU and TCU since realignment began for the SEC.

Dykes added that every institution has to answer the question whether it was a good move for them.

“Don’t know what’s going to happen with Oklahoma and Texas, but I think time will tell,” he said, per the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. “… You can say, ‘Well, we were 4-8, but we made a lot of money. At the end of the day, if that’s what it’s about, congratulations.”
