I wish I could have just made a montage of bloody faces and monster hits and people punching facemasks, but the cameras just didn’t catch quite enough of it. Every single game played in Week 14 was a nail-biter and those don’t happen without ridiculous plays that get the people talking. The format is a little different this week. The top play or performance from each of the rivalry games was chosen and then those were ranked amongst themselves, so this is technically a top nine with some of the runners-up listed afterwards.

9.PHAROH THE QB?

South Carolina didn’t have a lot to brag about as they watched their five-game winning streak over Clemson snapped, but one play certainly will have Gamecock fans talking all offseason long. With Dylan Thompson playing his final season, many have debated about who will be the quarterback of the future, including current receiver Pharoh Cooper. This may be the beginning of his audition.

8.MIZZOU’S TRICKY 2-POINTER

With a trip to the SEC championship game on the line, Missouri needed a two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter to tie the game against Arkansas. As Dan Fouts might say, “Last game of the season — can’t hold anything back now.” We know.

7.FOURNETTE RUNS THROUGH A MAN

Tune in again tomorrow for a closer look at this. LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette trucked over A&M’s Howard Matthews on his way to a 22-yard touchdown run. Seems eerily reminiscent of a former Georgia running back during his freshman year.

6.SUTTON TO THE HOUSE

The difference in the Tennessee/Vanderbilt game came right here on the first score of the game. The Vols’ Cam Sutton took this punt 76 yards through Commodore defenders to open the scoring in Tennessee’s 24-17 win.

5.THEY CALL HIM BOOM FOR A REASON

Kentucky’s Boom Williams just refused to be stopped. In a game that saw numerous scrums and altercations both on the field and along the sidelines, Williams channeled his rage into this beast-mode touchdown run that saw him break three perfectly wrapped-up tackles.

4.PICKIN’ WINSTON

There’s a reason this is at number four. Just count the FSU turnovers. Jameis Winston set a career high against Florida with four interceptions, all of which were amazing, athletic plays from the Gators secondary. The last one seemingly put them in perfect position to take the lead late in the third quarter, but Florida just couldn’t manage to put any more points on the board.

3.99 YARDS THE OTHER WAY

This play had a lot of Georgia Tech fans screaming at their television in disgust. Midway through the third quarter of a tie game, Tech quarterback Justin Thomas tried to punch the ball into the end zone, but was stopped short. The referees probably should have blown a whistle because his forward progress had been stopped for what seemed like forever, but the Bulldogs kept ripping at the ball and eventually forced it out and took it 99 yards for the 14-7 lead. Fortunately for Yellow Jackets fans the point was moot because their team came out with the overtime win.

2. AMARI! AMARI! AMARI!

When he goes to New York in December, the Auburn tape is the one we’ll all be watching when they talk about Amari Cooper.

1.THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE

I mean, come on. Ole Miss’ Jaylen Walton gets the toss to the right. He’s stopped. He reverses field to the left. He’s stopped. He cuts up the middle, breaks a tackle, and outruns everybody. He gets credit for a 91-yard touchdown run, but he may have just won football.

Honorable Mentions:

The top performance in the Iron Bowl was almost a toss-up, but I had to go with the winning team. That’s not to say Nick Marshall and his receivers didn’t have a ridiculous performance of their own. Their first half highlights made it seem like they were going to run Alabama out of their own building.

And then there were a couple of fantastic catches from guys in maroon and white. On Thanksgiving night, Texas A&M’s Speedy Noil snatched one away from right in front of the face of an eagerly awaiting defender and stayed in bounds for the touchdown. A couple days later, Mississippi State’s De’Runnya Wilson did almost the same thing, except he caught the ball and the defender’s arm behind it, too. Which was better? You decide.
