On Wednesday morning, it was revealed that this would be the last week of “The Ryan Russillo Show” on ESPN Radio.

The popular host announced he was leaving the network, and his last radio show will be on Friday, Dec. 22.

In the video below, shared by Ryan Glasspiegel on YouTube, Russillo explains his decision to leave the Worldwide Leader to pursue other opportunities:

“I was offered an extension and it was the same money I make now,” he said. “In the grand scheme of things, the way the world works, it’s a lot of money and I get that, but my days were going to be different. I was going to be in here for NBA hits on SportsCenter, I was going to be here like 10 hours a day.

“I don’t have a lot of a life now. I don’t really have any balance. I’d be lying if I told you I’ve been super happy lately.”

Though Russillo will be moving on and contract negotiations stalled, he said he’s not upset about the decision either he or ESPN made.

“All of this is OK, it’s been super amicable,” he said.

Where Russillo ends up next remains to be seen, but he expressed a desire to do some more creative things with his next career move. He’ll continue to do podcasts for ESPN until his contract expires next year.
