Ohio State’s shocking blowout loss to Purdue last Saturday has caused just about everyone to weigh in on the state of the program.

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit shared his thoughts Monday on The Dan Patrick Show, saying the Buckeyes have “some big problems” outside of the scandal and subsequent investigation that surrounded coach Urban Meyer in August.

“There are issues there if you really have watched them,” Herbstreit said, pointing to defensive deficiencies, the lack of a running game and the departure of injured defensive end Nick Bosa. Those problems are in addition to the cloud that has hung over Meyer this season after he was accused of knowing of an alleged years-long abusive relationship between a former assistant coach and his ex-wife.

Herbstreit believes those accusations are weighing on Meyer, who has also said he’s suffering from chronic headaches.

“If you watch him on the sidelines since he has been back, he looks — the word I have used is ‘anguished,'” Herbstreit said. “He looks frustrated, he looks very emotional and erratic. His team right now, we’re going to find out what they’re made out of.”

If you didn’t watch the Buckeyes’ embarrassing 49-20 loss to unranked Purdue, the YouTube account BoiledSports posted a supercut of Meyer’s pained reactions to his team’s performance.
