HUGH FREEZE on Ole Miss’ upset of top-ranked Alabama: “I’m just so proud of our young men. You can’t lose a game in 30 or 45 minutes. You have to play for 60 minutes and that is something we’ve preached since we’ve been here. That’s all I told them at halftime. To be very candid, I felt like my heart got ripped out right before the half on the fumble for points there. I felt very confident all week. That was the only time I started to waiver a bit. I was so anxious and sick. We settled them down at halftime. We preached to our kids to play 60 minutes. We felt like we found something right before half. That was one thing I wanted to try right before the half and it caused us a fumble.”

GUS MALZAHN after Auburn thumped LSU, 41-7, and perhaps persuaded poll voters: “With our team, I have not heard one player or coach talk about the rankings. We are focused. Our whole deal is at the end of the season. That is just the first game of the grind and it will all sort out at the end.”

DAN MULLEN on Dak Prescott handling the pressure and accounting for five touchdowns vs. Texas A&M: “He’s going to get more attention now with his performance, but that’s what we expect from him. In order to keep winning, he’s going to have to keep playing at a very, very high level. Getting two SEC wins is not our goal and we want to get more.”

MARK STOOPS on Kentucky’s sellout crowd and comeback win over South Carolina, its second in as many games after 18 straight SEC losses: “You know, it was one of the special atmospheres that I’ve been in because of what it means to this program, because of how far we’ve had to dig ourselves out of the hole. And guys have worked so hard and there’s been total commitment from so many people that I mention all the time, from the fans, administration, and to our players. ”

NICK SABAN after losing to Ole Miss for the first time during his tenure at Alabama: “You really have to give Ole Miss a lot of credit in the way they finished the game. We did not finish the game like we needed to. I think the big question for our team is, how do you respond to a loss? There are several teams around here who have lost games and responded the right way. They have ended up having pretty good seasons. We did not play as well as we would have liked today and that all starts with me. I am responsible.”

STEVE SPURRIER minutes after South Carolina lost a two-touchdown lead to fall in Lexington: “Y’all watched it. We’re not a great team. I told the guys we’re going to try to have a winning season somehow. We’ll obviously try to make some changes somewhere, but I don’t know exactly where. I’ll let you guys write what you see. That’s all you can do.”
