Clayton White knows an all-conference safety when he sees one, and the South Carolina defensive coordinator is very happy to have Jaylan Foster on his side of the field.

“What more do we want from a safety in his last year?,” White told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday. “In my opinion, he’s one of those guys that deserves to be on the all-conference football team.”

Foster is tied for the nationwide lead in interceptions with 5 this season, as the Gamecocks overall are also among the leaders in America with interceptions as they’re tied for 9th with 14. Foster has also caused 2 fumbles, broke up 2 passes, and has a quarterback hurry.

Foster has one of the best stories of top-shelf players around. The Gardner-Webb transfer came to South Carolina as a walk-on for 2 years before he earned a scholarship during 2020 fall camp.
