ESPN’s Football Power Index went ahead and predicted how every game is going to go for South Carolina in 2023.

South Carolina is coming off a 2022 campaign where it won eight games. The Gamecocks capped off the regular season by knocking off No. 5 Tennessee and No. 8 Clemson in consecutive weeks.

With the likes of QB Spencer Rattler returning, the expectations are high for Shane Beamer’s team.

Here are the FPI’s predictions for the outcome of each regular season game on South Carolina’s 2023 schedule:

  • Sept. 2 vs. North Carolina — 37.6%
  • Sept. 9 vs. Furman — 94.4%
  • Sept. 16 at Georgia — 6.3%
  • Sept. 23 vs. Mississippi State — 53.2%
  • Sept. 30 at Tennessee — 22.1%
  • Oct. 14 vs. Florida — 42.7%
  • Oct. 21 at Missouri — 39.5%
  • Oct. 28 at Texas A&M — 22%
  • Nov. 4 vs. Jacksonville State — 93.9%
  • Nov. 11 vs. Vandy — 76.7%
  • Nov. 18 vs. Kentucky — 46.2%
  • Nov. 25 vs. Clemson —22.8%

It looks like South Carolina is an underdog in every game except for four. The Gamecocks are favored against Furman on Sept. 9 at home. Then, favored again versus Mississippi State on Sept. 23.

The Nov. 4 meeting with Jacksonville State is looking favorable for the Gamecocks. The final game of 2023 that South Carolina is favored in is against Vanderbilt on Nov. 11.

The game that the FPI gives South Carolina the lowest odds of winning is the matchup with No. 1 Georgia on Sept. 16.

The Football Power Index has set South Carolina’s win total at 5.6. Can Beamer and company prove everyone wrong again this season?
