After a game that seemed all but done, South Carolina came back to beat Florida in overtime in the Swamp last week.

The Gamecocks head into this weekend’s game against South Alabama with a ton of momentum after blocking two kicks in the fourth quarter.

A come-from-behind win where your team “steals” a game is one of the best feelings in all of sports. That’s why sport is such a great invention. It gives people hope and shows that you’re never out or done until the proverbial fat lady sings. You can overcome adversity. If there’s one thing that sport shows us, it’s to never give up.

After talking to a few of my buddies on the team, I can tell you just how amped and excited that South Carolina locker room is this week. It was an emotional win for Coach Spurrier and when he gets emotional after a win, you know you did something important. I could feel Dylan Thompson’s excitement and emotion through his text messages.

I told him how proud I was of him and the boys for never giving up and keeping their heads in the game. That’s a sign of his leadership and the leadership of his teammates. The Gamecocks have had a poor year by their standards and have lost some heartbreaking games. I was really proud of those guys for playing with so much pride and coming out of Gainesville with a win.

Despite what everyone has been saying about them, they still grind and play with a ton of effort week in and week out.

This is a very important game against South Alabama and the Gamecocks need to come out and light up the scoreboard to keep building momentum. They head up to Greenville next week to face our arch nemesis, Clemson. Dylan and the guys need to dominate this week and make it six in a row against the Upstate team.
