Halfcourt buzzer-beating bank shot: James Reese lifts South Carolina over Ole Miss in OT
By Keith Farner
Published:
James Reese gave South Carolina an improbable victory on Tuesday night with a halfcourt heave to knock off Ole Miss at the buzzer in overtime.
The Gamecocks prevailed 77-74 after Jarkel Joiner pulled the Rebels into overtime with a layup with 1 second remaining. South Carolina was led by Erik Stevenson with 17 points, and Keyshawn Bryant and Devin Carter each added 16 points. Ole Miss had 3 players with 18 points in Nysier Brooks, Matthew Murrell and Joiner.
It was an improbable win for the Gamecocks in several ways, including being just their third win in 18 tries in Oxford, and Reese missed his first 5 3-point attempts tonight.
The Gamecocks improve to 15-10, 6-7 SEC and host LSU on Saturday.
