Marcus Satterfield and Shane Beamer have faced questions in recent days about the South Carolina offense being too complex as the Gamecocks look for solutions to jump-start the struggling unit.
After Beamer defended the offense extensively in a Sunday evening media teleconference, Satterfield took his turn on Wednesday.
“There’s nothing that we’re doing that’s too complex, especially in the run game,” Satterfield said, per Mike Uva. “I’ve coached at the FCS level, my dad has coached at the HS level, it’s basic football. But what I’m asking them to do, maybe you’re not wide zone team; maybe you’re tight/gap zone team.”
South Carolina ranks No. 12 in the SEC in rushing yards per game at 117 yards.
Satterfield added, “I think it’s we just got to keep plugging away, keep working and eventually it will click.”
